The Gol de Letra Foundation is a Brazilian Non-profit Organization that acts on the suburbs of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The programs and projects of this institution attend 1200 children and youth nowadays, seeking to strength a new way of learning that embraces knowledge, culture and citizenship.
Established by the famous brazlian soccer players Raí and Leonardo, the Gol de Letra Foundation is acknowledged by UNESCO as world model in children and adolescents assistance in a social risk environment.
The Institution approaches social themes throughout Art, Culture, Education and Sports. This strategy, set by many projects and actions that started to be developed in 1998, is one of the core elements that has been allowing us reach satisfactory outcomes and surpass complex challenges.
The Social Area is a key component to our success, as one of our specific goals is to mobilize the several social actors (families, schools and institutions connected to the local communities) to act in partnership with us.

Main Programs and Projects
Changing the Game (Virando o Jogo) – São Paulo:
A full education program is held during the period that the students aren’t at their regular school with activities targeted to develop oral, writing, body and cultural expression for 240 children and teenagers. The program’s educators also instruct 12 young in order to become monitors.
Tutoring of Mediators and Monitors for the Library and Play Room – São Paulo
Capacity building of 20 young to become mediators and monitors of reading stimulation and learning by playing , activities which are performed in the library and in the play room.
Youth Program – São Paulo
Offers to 160 young and teenagers, artistic and communication activities as well as the exercise of citizenship that stimulates and develops skills that help them in their capacity of social mobilization, their personal development, and leadership skills in order to become active agents of their communities.
Open Game (Jogo Aberto) – São Paulo
Offers the practice of sports and the development of social abilities to 200 children and teenagers and orientation of 16 young monitors by the program’ educators. Leisure activities for 150 people throughout evenings and weekends complement this program.
Sport Action at School Project (Projeto Escola Ação Esportiva) – São Paulo
Developed in partnership with four public education institutions, reaching 400 children in 3 different sports modalities.
Open Game (Jogo Aberto) - Rio de Janeiro
Offers the practice of sports and development of social abilities to 200 children and teenagers as well the orientation of 12 young monitors by the program’ educators.
These trainee monitors also attend the workshops of Reading Writing and Computer Skills, and the Project Mensageiros da Agua (Water Messengers), environmental education action focusing attention on water resources’ utilization and preservation.
Social Area – Attention towards the Family and the Community – São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro:
Domicile visits, social care, referring of cases to specialists, educational actions, development of social network and training of 12 social agents.
