COMMUNITIES RIO DE JANEIRO

Territorial expansion, duplication of results, institutional reference. These were the landmarks reached by the Communities Program in 2015. New areas of Rio de Janeiro were benefited by the actions of Fundação Gol de Letra.

Social and sports activities in Caju community, in the port zone, and Barreira do Vasco, in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro, impacted directly on the life of 2 000 inhabitants, between 18 and 75 years of ages. New projects brought several benefits to the two communities, in terms of health, social assistance and education. In fact, more than 6,000 inhabitants were indirectly benefited. Proportionally to the increase of the executed actions, these figures doubled in relation to the previous year.

Another district that counted on Fundação Gol de Letra´s social assistance was the Tijuca Complex, specifically Borel and Casa Branca Hills, where the community action started with the kick-off of Tijuca´s Integration Games, a project with specific actions to be developed during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The social assistance network was strengthened in all these regions. The positive result was generated by the interlocution among institutions as well as with the local inhabitants, a strategy used to propitiate visibility to the institutions, and also to organize actions that effectively answer to the communities´ demands and add value to the obtained results.

There were three editions of Citzenship Gol in 2015; two in Caju and one in Barreira do Vasco, besides the Sports Hiking in Caju, involving the whole Social Service´s team in all their stages, from planning to execution. The first event congregated, in one sole day, free services to the citizens, including sports activities, health care, legal assistance, document issuing, recreation, workshops, besides the guided physical activities. The second event involved a lively hiking experience in the district, in order to promote the sports practice and the community integration.

The head-office of the institution, located in Caju district, has now a community space dedicated to the development of actions focused on workability, education, training, health care and integration groups, a benefit to the citizens living in that district. Twenty-five new spaces are now available (granted) for the practice of several community activities.
