To start with

The Gol de Letra Foundation is a non-profit civil society organization that works with the concept of integral education in socially vulnerable communities.

Established on December 10, 1998, International Human Rights Day, the organization was born from the dream of the four-time world champion Raí and Leonardo to contribute to the education of children, adolescents and young people, combining educational and social assistance practices with community development for its members and their families.

In 2018, Fundação Gol de Letra celebrated its 20th anniversary.

It involves the history of many lives, many projects and their impacts. This special date’s commemoration happened during the year, with several actions which represented visibility, resource gathering and, of course, celebrations!

The year was also important for our work. Once again, we were ranked as one of the 100 Best NGOs in Brazil, an initiative of Instituto Doar and Rede Filantropia, with the objective of acknowledging the best managerial practices and the transparency of the Third Sector. Moreover, we sent a delegation of monitors and educators to FIFA Foundation Festival, that took place in Russia, during the World Cup. Our team took part in capacitation activities and in football matches (three times), exchanging experiences during the international games. A super experience for the youth representing Vila Albertina (São Paulo State) and Caju (Rio de Janeiro State)!

We improved our work via the SDO (Sustainable Development Objectives) of the UN (United Nations), the international protocol established in 190 countries, that deals with important themes such as education, human rights, health, work, diversity, etc. In 2018 we worked directly with the following SDOs:

  • Saúde e Bem-Estar
  • Educação de Qualidade
  • Igualdade de Gênero
  • Trabalho Decente e Crescimento Econômico
  • Redução das Desigualdades
  • Paz, justiça e instituições eficazes
  • Parcerias e meios de implementação

In Rio de Janeiro, we started our actions with our partners in Caju District (governmental schools and reference centers, introducing our methodology in new sites and to new players in the territory. We inaugurated a court, René Lacoste Tennis Arena, a place to be used not only to play tennis but also to host concerts, cultural meetings, special week festivals and community mobilization events.

In São Paulo we strengthen our performance in Vila Albertina´s key sites, for instance, the NED (Sports and Development Center), the governmental schools (Conselheiro Ruy Barbosa, Dr. Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, Leônidas Paiva, Professor Izac Silvério) and municipal schools (João Ramos Pernambuco Abolicionista, Professor Noé Azevedo and Martin Francisco Ribeiro de Andrada). In São Paulo City we promoted several cultural, sports and community events for the assisted population.

All the details of the 2018 actions can be found in the“Programs and Projects” Section of the present report.
